第一位進入美國史密斯籃球名人堂的中國籃球明星姚明，10日將抵台並於11日出席「兩岸青年論壇」，與學生們在餐廳共進午餐。他先前接受《旺報》獨家採訪時表示，很期待吃遍台灣小吃。
姚行此行訪台，還將率領上海多隊籃球運動員到台北切磋球技、以球會友。由上海市體育局和台北市體育局共同主辦的「2016年海峽杯籃球邀請賽」，是滬台「雙城論壇」成果之一。賽事分別於9月12日至14日在上海、10月11日至12日在台北舉辦21點高級算牌法。
10月11日至12日，姚明與上海市體育局將率領上海大鯊魚職業籃球隊、上海交通大學、上海南洋模範中學男子籃球隊到台北，分別與裕隆納智捷、台灣科技大學、台北市立松山高中男子籃球隊舉辦3場籃球交流比賽。
11日他將應邀「兩岸青年論壇」訪談，中午將赴東吳大學，到學生餐廳與同學們共進午餐，姚明表示，他很久沒有回到學校去感受一下當學生的氣氛，所以很期待這次能吃學生餐廳。
他也將到台北市立啟聰學校，與學生們互動，並客串擔任小球員的籃球裁判，晚上出席海峽杯籃球賽職業組的比賽並擔任開球嘉賓。
